Volunteerting in Vietnam can be difficult and expensive. In Ta Phin the villagers can give you the opportunity to contribute directly to their community whilst living amongst them.
Ta Phin would like to learn english and other skills such as creating health and other educational programs from volunteers who are mature and can look after themselves. Sometimes in some place volunteers, though well meaning, require a lot of care and attention.This is not the place for needy people, but for self-reliant and empathic people.
We suggest you come to the Village and ask Ms. Ly May Chan, the community leader, how you can help based on your skills and the time you have available.
Like any other visitor you can pay for your homestay accomodation and meals, but the appreciation you will experience from the community will be priceless.
The community do not have a long history of hosting volunteers, so we ask you to very sensitive to their needs, not stay too long and check with them if they are happy with your work.
The Dao are great hosts and incredibly welcoming. They are fiercly protective of their children and do not tolerate any inappropriate behaviour. The genuine volunteer will have an experience of a lifetime during their stay.
